Zitroreen is Azithromycin 500mg is an antibiotic that fights bacteria. It is used to treat different types of infections, such as respiratory, skin, ear, eye, and sexually transmitted infections. It can be taken as a tablet or a liquid. The usual dose is 500 mg once per day for 3 to 10 days, depending on the infection. Some infections may require a one-off higher dose of 1g or 2g. The dose may be lower for children or if you have liver or kidney problems. Each tablet contains 500 mg of azithromycin (as dihydrate) and 6.16 mg of lactose (as monohydrate). Azithromycin works by blocking the formation of proteins required for bacterial growth. Thus it prevents further bacterial growth and multiplication. This medication will not work for viral infections (such as common cold, flu). Side effects are rare if this medicine is used correctly but this medicine may cause stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting in some people.
